I heard the term "Fair Trade" a zillion times, but it wasn't until recently that I read up on it and learned what it's all about. The long of the short is that sometimes coffee growers are in remote locations and will end up selling their raw coffee beans to a middleman for a fraction of what they are actually worth. Fair Trade means that the farmers have been paid a fair price for their beans, which hopefully results in better paid workers and an overall better quality of life in coffee-farming communities. There are no guarantees, of course, but from what I've learned, it seems that it certainly doesn't hurt to look for the label and make sure that the company who ultimately sold the coffee I'm drinking is at least trying to make the world a better (read: more fair) place.
The Green Mountain Coffee. It is magnificent and I’m thrilled to tell you as a BzzAgent that not only is it yummy, delicious and a great way to start the morning, but it fits right in with my value system because the bags are Fair Trade Certified. The first time when I have had the opportunity to taste Fair Trade Green Mountain Coffee was when I have received for reviewing purposes a kit from BzzAgent. This was the moment when I have realized that Keurig K-cup's can be the most delicious cups of coffee while using Fair Trade Green Mountain Coffee.
Thank you BzzAgent for the opportunity and thank your Green Mountain Coffee for introducing the Fair Trade coffee!
